PY - Yacht Skipper Course
For those who have the PER and are starting to find it too limiting. If you want to break free from the limits of coastal navigation, the Yacht Skipper qualification will open the doors to offshore navigation.
With the Yacht Skipper qualification you can sail up to 150 miles from the coast. Venture across the seas to places such as the Canary Islands or Sardinia in boats up to 24 metres in length. And if you have already completed the Sailing practice with your PER, these privileges will also apply to your Yacht Skipper qualification.

These are the requirements to obtain the PY
PY
To obtain the Yacht Skipper qualification you must hold the PER qualification.
MEDICAL CHECK-UP
To obtain the PY you must pass a simple medical check-up, similar to the one for renewing a driving licence.
EXAM
To obtain the PY you must pass a theory exam. After preparing with us, you can register for the exam by paying the corresponding fees.
NAVIGATION AND SAFETY PRACTICE
You will need 48 hours of navigation practice, 36 of which must be on a passage.
You can do the practical training before or after the theory exam.
WHAT TYPE OF BOAT CAN I SAIL AND HOW FAR CAN I GO WITH THE YACHT SKIPPER QUALIFICATION?
- Skippering motor recreational boats up to 24 metres in length, allowing navigation in the area between the coast and a line parallel to it, drawn 150 miles offshore.
- You will be able to sail to places such as the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands or the island of Sardinia.

PY theory course
You can take the PY theory course with us from wherever you are: attend in person in our classrooms at Marina del Este or join via live streaming (video conference) and interact live with the teacher and other students.
PY theory classes are on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. If you cannot attend or connect, they will be recorded in your virtual classroom.

You can take part in this course from home, live.

Virtual classroom
You will have access to your virtual classroom to review the classes as many times as you like for 12 months.
