How long is the course?

The radio course for the Basic Navigation Skipper lasts 4 hours and can be completed in a single day. It consists of 2 hours of theory and 2 hours of practice.

PNB Optional Sailing Practice

Sailing practice is NOT COMPULSORY to get your nautical qualification, but it is well worth having your Sailing endorsement. This practice is valid for the PNB qualification and allows you to sail sailing boats up to 8 metres in length.

If you later obtain the PER qualification, this same practice will count towards it, allowing you to skipper SAILING BOATS up to 15 metres in length. And if you complete the PER extension practice, you will be able to sail sailing boats up to 24m.

This practice is valid for: PNB, PER, PY, CY….

This practical training consists of 16 hours of sailing on our Atlantic 61 sailing yacht.  It can be done in 2 sessions of 8 hours or 4 sessions of 4 hours.

It takes place on one of the most beautiful coastlines in southern Spain. Setting off from our base in Marina del Este, we will sail along the coasts of Granada and Málaga.

Do I have to choose a date to sign up for the course?

Yes, but it is not set in stone. You can sign up for the course by choosing a date, and if it later does not suit you, we can change it to another that better fits your schedule.

48-hour practical course to skipper boats up to 24 m in length and sail to the Balearic Islands on both motor and sailing boats. All in a single practical session.

PER Radio Practice

At Academia Náutica Alborán you will obtain your Short Range Radio  Operator certificate, which qualifies you to operate onboard radio stations and to correctly use all of a boat’s locating and communication devices.

How long is the course?

This course lasts 12 hours. We will set the timetable around your availability to make it as easy as possible for you to obtain this certificate, which is compulsory to activate your PER.

PER Optional Extension + Sailing Practice

Sailing practice is optional, so it is NOT COMPULSORY in order to sail with your PER licence. However, if you complete this training, you will be able to skipper sailing boats up to 15 metres in length with your Recreational Boat Skipper licence. And if you complete the PER EXTENSION, you will be able to sail boats up to 24 metres in length and go as far as the Balearic Islands. Once you have completed your sailing practice, it will count towards all kinds of nautical qualifications, such as Yacht Skipper or Yacht Captain.

This practical training consists of 48 hours of sailing on our sailing yacht.  

It takes place on one of the most beautiful coastlines in southern Spain. Setting off from our base in Marina del Este, we will sail along the coasts of Granada and Málaga.

From then on, you will be able to skipper motor boats up to 24 metres in length and sail as far as the Balearic Islands.

We make this passage under both sail and motor. 

We will carry out various exercises simulating different situations, putting into practice everything learnt in the theory classes.
