The Navigation Licence course takes 6 hours in total: two hours of theory, and the remaining four are spent putting the knowledge and manoeuvres into practice on the boat.

Just fill in the booking form with your details and pay for the booking. You can pay for the whole course or part of it. In the latter case, you will pay the rest on the day of the course at our academy.

On this website you will find a link to make your booking and pay. You can choose the payment method that suits you best.

We can run private courses for groups of 10 or more people, with a group discount. Contact us for more information.

As soon as you make your booking, you will receive an email with the confirmation and the complete syllabus and nautical knowledge relating to the Navigation Licence.
At the end there will be a short assessment to check that you have acquired the course knowledge.

The two theory hours take place in our academy classroom, and the four practical hours on one of our motorboats moored in the port of Marina del Este or Nerja. We run courses every day, although we recommend booking in advance, especially in summer due to high demand.

The Navigation Licence practical training takes place on motorboats only. If you want to practise or expand your sailing knowledge, you can sign up for the Sail endorsement course.

To obtain the Navigation Licence instantly after completing the course, you must hand in a photocopy of your DNI or passport, and your NIE if you are a foreign national. You must also provide a psychotechnical medical certificate issued by an approved drivers’ medical centre. When requesting the medical certificate, ask for it to be for the Navigation Licence.

The course lasts a total of 6 hours, with no exam to take or pass.
What’s more, at our Nautical School we issue the licence instantly so you can go sailing the same day.

On this course you learn to skipper a boat according to sea conditions, basic knots, berthing, anchoring, regulations, legislation, COLREGs (RIPA) rules for preventing collisions at sea, safety on board and use of VHF radio.

No, to obtain the Navigation Licence you only need to complete the 6-hour course.

Yes, the Navigation Licence also allows you to sail, within the privileges of the Navigation Licence itself. In other words, you can skipper sailing boats with the Navigation Licence as long as they do not exceed 6 metres in length and stay within the navigation limits (2 miles from the coast)

Before the Navigation Licence there was a qualification called the Federation Authorisation, or Titulín, as it was the most basic qualification in recreational boating. With the entry into force of Royal Decree 875/2014, the Federation Authorisation was replaced by the Navigation Licence.
