Recreational Boat Skipper Course
We prepare you so you can obtain your qualification easily. With the PER qualification you can skipper motor and sailing boats up to 24 metres in length, depending on the practical training you complete.

What is the PER?
Recreational Boat Skipper (Patrón de Embarcaciones de Recreo).
It is a licence that allows you to skipper boats up to 15 metres in length and all types of jet skis. With this licence you can sail by day and by night, up to 12 miles from a place of shelter.
You can extend these privileges by completing the relevant practical training at our academy.
You do not need any previous qualification to get your PER licence. You just have to pass the exam and complete the practical training.
These are the requirements to obtain the PER:
MEDICAL CHECK-UP
To obtain the PER you must pass a simple medical check-up, similar to the one for renewing a driving licence.
EXAM
To obtain the PER you must pass a theory exam. After preparing with us, you can register for the exam in Murcia or Málaga if you live in the area, or anywhere else in Spain if you live elsewhere.
NAVIGATION PRACTICE
You need 16 hours of navigation practice to obtain the PER licence.
You can do the practical training at our centre or anywhere else that suits you.
RADIO PRACTICE
Short Range Radio Operator Course
You need 12 hours of radio practice to obtain the PER.

PER theory course
You can take the PER theory course with us from wherever you like: attend in person in our classrooms in Marina del Este or connect via live streaming (video conference) and interact live with the teacher and other students.
PER theory classes are on Wednesday afternoons from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. If you cannot attend or connect, they will be recorded in your virtual classroom, which you can access for 12 months.

WHAT KIND OF BOAT CAN I SKIPPER AND HOW FAR CAN I GO WITH THE BASIC PER?
ADDITIONAL PRIVILEGES:
Extended PER
Once you have your PER, you can extend its privileges with our practical EXTENDED PER course. You will be able to skipper boats up to 24 metres in length and sail to the Balearic Islands.
SAIL
Practical course to extend your privileges to SAIL. This course is taken only once and is valid with any nautical licence you hold: PNB, PER, PY or CY.

This course lasts a total of 16 hours. You will learn the basics of the boat’s rigging, sails and tackle, and put into practice all kinds of knowledge and manoeuvres for sailing.
EXTENDED PER
24 METRES + INTER-ISLAND

This course lasts 24 hours, which must be completed as a passage, including at least 4 hours of night navigation. It will allow you to skipper boats up to 24 metres in length and sail from the mainland to the Balearic Islands.
